Rage

Creates productions using film, theatre, music…

Rage brings together people of different ages, cultures and levels of ability to work together and learn from each other.

Rage assists people to create their own productions through advice/expertise and by providing resources.

Rage gives people work experience / work related skills and advice to help them in their career.

We recently secured funding from Screen West Midlands to continue our practical exploration of making films with young people with So Cold The Night, giving young people the opportunity to work with professional actors and crew. The project also gave people seeking a career in film making the opportunity to further develop their skills.

We will be touring our annual Christmas production which will see us giving those new to the industry the opportunity to further develop their skills on a professional tour to schools and community centres.

The Rage Ensemble

Gives people the opportunity to gain skills to help them take the next step in life.

Gives people skills to help them to gain employment or to continue in education.

Since 2000 we have run the award winning The Rage Ensemble giving young people the opportunity to gain skills to help them either to take the next step in life, continue in education or gain employment. For the first three years we ran The Rage Ensemble in partnership with South Birmingham College running a GNVQ foundation course in performing arts.

We have gained expertise in creating projects working with those who are or are in danger of becoming socially disadvantaged. This work has been supported by the Neighbourhood Support Fund (DFES), ESF, Connexions and The Home Office.

The Rage Ensemble’s debut film won the TIC Digital film festival and Rage was short listed in 2004 for Birmingham Council’s Life Long Learning Award for the work of The Rage Ensemble.

Balti Rap @ Rage saw us working with the Home Office and Connexions to explore issues of gun crime and gang culture with young people from Aston, Handsworth and Nechells.

The Wheels of Dreams project saw us working for seven months with a provider of alternative education provision with the Support of Black Country Connexions.

We are seeking to create a Community Media Centre to give people with an interest the opportunity to develop their skills at whatever stage they are whether they need to gain confidence and self esteem to take the next step towards finding employment or whether they need to gain work related skills to move up their chosen career ladder. The Community Media Centre would give people the opportunity to work with professionals to create productions using film theatre and music. The centre would be equipped with equipment for theatre music and film production. We are looking into the Lottery Community Building fund as way of enabling the CMC either by

1) renting/leasing our own building.

2) buying a building of our own.

3) or being based within another organisation eg school college, youth centre, university

We are developing an application to the Young People’s fund for three years’ funding to enable us to work with and run a number of projects for young people.

The Community Feature Film a development of our existing work would see us working with a number of groups to create a story relevant to the people from the area. People from the community would have the opportunity to be part of the cast and help out behind the camera working alongside a professional production company. We also have a couple of other feature films in development one of which a magical story for all the family set in the city of Birmingham.

Rage requires Trustees/Directors, Management Committee members to help us in the development of the organisation:

Chair Person,

We are seeking a dynamic leader to spearhead the development of the organisation. He / she should be a strategic thinker, proactive in identifying opportunities for development with income generation skills, expanding service delivery, highly polished communication and networking skills and a passion to inspire our trustees, staff, artists, partners and users in pursuit of our vision.
